The ruins of this castle are set eastwards from Martin, between the Turcianska dell and the Big Fatra mountains. The first reference is from 13rd century, when the castle rose on the ruins of an old settlement. Alike the castle Blatnica, this castle have been branded by frequent changes of holders. The castle have been burnt out several time, first in 1436 and later at the end of 15th century In the middle of 16th century the family of Revay become holder which made a wide rebuilding there.
